Brantano starts life as a family run business in Lede, East Flanders, specialising in making Ladies shoes. A small factory shop was later opened and the foundations of the Brantano chain of stores began.
Manufacturing was halted due to increase competition from Italy and the entire factory was transformed into a shoe shop. By 1993 a further 55 stores had opened.
Brantano entered the UK market by purchasing 47 Shoe City stores from British Shoe Corporation and boosted its turnover by 60%.
Further expansion takes place in the UK when Brantano purchase 27 stores from the famous Brunswick Warehouse footwear chain.
Brantano launch its first shopping web site and with continued investment over the last years brantano now have over 120 stores across the uk.
Brantano join forces with Tommy’s baby charity to help raise funds for research into pregnancy problems and helping save babies lives through their New for Old Campaigns.
Brantano has a portfolio of 140 stores plus over 60 concession stores.
