Mark Holt – Training Store Manager
Most people might think that retail isn't for them, and it was the same for me. When I left school I joined the army in the hope of becoming a Bomb Disposal Expert but was sadly, medically discharged at 17. Before joining the army I had already worked as a temporary Sales Assistant with Brantano so I applied for another Sales Assistant position and haven’t looked back since.
I have now been with Brantano for 8 years and am now managing my own store! (a bit of a change I know). I can’t say it’s been easy but it has definitely been worth it. I'm working alongside a great team of managers whom are always there to help if needed and as with any job you are sometimes hit with the occasional large work load but with a good team behind you anything is possible.
I never saw myself being able to progress this far, but Brantano have helped me along the way, the training and encouragement I've received over the years has been amazing and unforgettable.
A couple of years ago I applied to be one of the companies Training Managers and was accepted and this was when I was still an Assistant Manager. I have since helped many Managers and Assistant Managers with their induction and training into the company.
The best part of my job is the people I work with, from the dedicated Sales Assistants in my own store all the way up to the staff of Head Office. Working for Brantano is fun and will continue to be fun because that's the way I approach the job. If you want to do well in this company aim high and smile but most of all enjoy it!
The shoe I would describe myself as is a fluffy slipper because I’m warm natured, dependable and you’re always happy to see me!
