Abbey McNally – Supervisor Academy
I have been with Brantano since October 2009, where I started working 4 hours on a Saturday. Since then my hours have increased and this year I was promoted to Supervisor. I was also selected to join the Brantano Supervisor Academy, which will get me ready for my first Assistant Manager role. I am also currently completing my NVQ level 2 in retail.
At Brantano every day is different; the regular tasks I undertake include re-merchandising the kids department and displaying stock, serving customers on the shop floor and at the till as well as managing the shop floor when acting as Duty Manager. The different challenges I sometimes have to face at work are; completing tasks and meeting timescales, dealing with customer queries and any unforeseen problems that may occur. The best part of my job is being part of an amazing team who work together every day to achieve the best we can and ensure our customers are receiving excellent quality service.
The advice I would offer a new starter would be to be confident in what you do, if you are confident in yourself then this will show and the customers will believe in you. Don’t be afraid to show your strengths and take every opportunity that you’re given to progress your skills and work your way up to where you want to be. If you work hard, it will always be noticed and rewarded.
What shoe represents me and why? Well after asking everyone at work, they came to the conclusion I would be the Emilio Luca’s lace up in taupe. The reasons being, it’s delicate, feminine and at the same time glamorous and sophisticated.
